A group of professionals and investors from the city of Kolkata have been long looking for opportunities for installing a monorail system in and around Kolkata.
The group thus formed a company namely Kolkata Monorail Projects Private Limited with a closely knit highly motivated team with expertise from various aspects of engineering and past experience in state and central administration. This team is led by Mr P C Sen, who has vast experience in mainline railways in India, monorails in United Kingdom and financing and hospitals in India.
The other members in the team as Directors are Mr K R Sriram, a well known Chartered Accountant and Company Secretary with more than 25 years of experience, Dr M L Rai Chowdhury, a civil engineer with specializations in Transportation Engineering and more than 30 years of experience and Mr Alok Datta, an experienced professional of more than 35 years of experience in the world of finance and exposure to various sectors.
Apart from organizing and implementing the subject monorail system, the company is also planning to invest other modes of transport infrastructure likely electric buses and e-rickshaws, apart from real estate and health infrastructure.
We have signed MOU with a major consulting house to provide service to our project,M/s AECOM USA. Some renowned professionals from various other fields including Railways, IT & battery technology and other allied fields have given their consent to join our organization shortly to strengthen the same. Our monorail system will run on batteries and will thus be “green”. The batteries will not be charged by coal powered electricity.
Recently the company tied up with a very reputed group of investors and the contract between the two groups have been signed. Kolkata Monorail Projects Pvt Ltd would be responsible for planning, design, implementation and Operation & Maintenance of the system.
This project can truly be considered viable and profitable which would go a long way in meeting the social needs of the people in West Bengal.
